The Geneva Natural Resources Committee is calling on all neighbors to join in for a special community event — the 14th annual Fox River Cleanup Day! Scheduled for September 21, this day is all about rolling up our sleeves and taking care of the beautiful Fox River that flows right through our town.

From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will come together to clean up two designated areas along the river. This effort is especially important this year due to the ongoing Union Pacific Third Main Line project, which has highlighted the need to keep our river pristine and healthy.

Ready to lend a hand and make a difference? Your community needs you!

“We’re thrilled to join the Friends of the Fox River once again in their mission to remove debris all the way from Wisconsin to Ottawa!” reads a handout for the event.

If you’re up for a bit of adventure and don’t mind getting muddy, meet us at the Fabyan Forest Preserve parking lot, accessible from Route 25, just south of the iconic Fabyan Windmill. Prefer to stay dry? No problem! You can still make a big impact by joining us on land at Island Park, located at 2 E. State St., near the spillway by the playground. There’s a way for everyone to help, no matter your comfort level!

Maps of both meeting spots and nearby parking are available on the City of Geneva’s website, making it easy for you to find your way.

To ensure everyone is well-prepared, the committee will provide canoes, garbage bags, water, snacks, and washing stations. Just remember to wear old clothes, gloves, and sturdy boots—you’ll want to be ready for anything!

If you have any questions or need more information about the cleanup, feel free to reach out to the Natural Resources Committee. They’re here to help and make sure everyone has a fantastic time while making a difference! For more details, click here
